Recent diagnosis

Hello,

I'm new here as I have only recently, at the age of 61 received an ASD and ADHD diagnosis. It has helped me to make sense of many things in my life but now I would like to start living.

I have been attempting to get a career in radio going for the last 40 odd years, but have always been too anxious about approaching people for a chance. I do a show on a community station, which I have been doing for the last 17 years but would really love to get paid for my passion.

I have always struggled with money management and am almost homeless. I just want to live a simple life in a house and make radio programmes.

So that is me right now.

Parents
  • I would love to, but just don't know how to do it?

  • Would getting a job behind the scenes be a way into radio? Maybe approach a local radio station, I find emailing people easier, send out an email to every station within a set distance, one may reply. hospital radio is another way to build a c.v.
It most probably is harder to get into a different industry later in life, but they may be looking for something different.

Would doing a program on neurodiversity be something you could do on community radio? Some start by doing podcasts on internet platforms.
