Recent diagnosis

Hello,

I'm new here as I have only recently, at the age of 61 received an ASD and ADHD diagnosis. It has helped me to make sense of many things in my life but now I would like to start living.

I have been attempting to get a career in radio going for the last 40 odd years, but have always been too anxious about approaching people for a chance. I do a show on a community station, which I have been doing for the last 17 years but would really love to get paid for my passion.

I have always struggled with money management and am almost homeless. I just want to live a simple life in a house and make radio programmes.

So that is me right now.

  • Welcome,  from another AuDHDer. Great that you want to 'start living' and that you have a passion for radio. Have you considered originating some programme ideas, piloting them and then approaching commissioners? That might get your foot in the door and community radio might itself be a good subject! Any road, I wish you every success in building a simple, secure and interesting life. Lots of good folk here and we will help you settle in.

  • Thank you , I have thought about that a lot. I have even done it several times. I get positive feedback but it stops there. I have even heard the very ideas that I have put forward made by others! I have a tendency to then give up and think that I must be rubbish at this, due to being the way I am.
