Newby here...!

Hi everyone.......newby here on first visit, and still awaiting a diagnosis.

My 5 yr. old Grandson was diagnosed some time ago and is now awaiting his final assessment.  This led me in to looking in to Autism and Aspergers, resulting in a suspicion that I have  probably been autistic for some time - both wife and daughter (Mother of said Grandchild) saying I have most of the symptoms.

Saw my GP about this who was very supportive, but that was at the start of March.   Apparently he referred me to somewhere but the referral was lost, and wherever it was now do not see adults anyway.  I was re-referred in early July for a place in Sheffield, but am still awaiting an appointment, only contact from them was a letter dated 08/07 saying I would hear 'soon'.

Does it normally take 6 months plus for adults to get an appointment ??

Cheers.

6 months isn't bad. I (aged 56) was offered a 12 month wait and ended up going private as i needed a quicker result to avoid my work sending me further down a disciplinary route.

is there a pressing need for a diagnosis or are you mainly looking to explain why your life has been more conflictful than it should be?
