I'm new. Highly likely ASD Toddler.

Good afternoon all, Hope everyone is well.

I'm Helen and I am stay at home mummy to 3 children. Currently aged 14yrs, 9yrs and 2 1/2yrs.

My youngest being the one who is highly likely to be Autistic according to my very good doctor who I trust grately.

If I'm honest I'm struggling to come to terms with this all.

I know no one who has a child with ASD. And I have no real support from family and friends. I don't go out very much at all. My teenage daughter's attitude gets to me as well. She thinks she can do what she likes when she likes and the back chat... WOW!!

Doctor has prescribed me with Anti depressants but I haven't started taking them yet kind of feel like I've failed if I have to resort to them if that makes sense??

Our doctor has referred my son to a Paed but still waiting to hear back from them.

Got a hearing test next week and speech therapy next week too... Not looking forward to the hearing test to be honest.

Thank you for reading. I look forward to hearing from people soon.

  • Hi there, thank you for the welcome.

Yes I can forsee issues at the hearing test because I know my son won't let them put headphones on or do what they ask. He is only having an hearing test because of the speech therapy which is what the HV requested as after sitting with my son for 10 minutes or less at his 27 month check she said he isn't autistic he's frustrated from not being able to speak. To which I agree too to some degree but it's more than that. Which is why I went to the doctors with a long list of stuff my son does.

I contacted a group near to me several weeks ago but no one has replied :( which somewhat dishearted me :(

Unfortunately I haven't a clue where my son will be referred too :( I did ask my doctor last week about it and she said that it had been sent off she remembers dicating the letter.
