New here

Hi, I'm Alastair 44 years old and as yet formally diagnosed. However, i've been on a journey discovering my autisitc self over the last 5 years. It's been at times hard, as I learn my whole life i've been effectively living a lie and not been my true self. The more I look back on my life, the more i'm like "oh yeah" instead of thinking I was just awkward.

  • Hi  and welcome. I am glad you are finding some answers.  makes a good point about self-forgiveness. A different way of looking at a pre-identification life is that we were surviving and getting by in a world not designed for our brains and where our difference is not always accommodated. Once we gain awareness, we can compassionately recode our pasts and start to understand and advocate for what we really need.
