New here - Aspergers family

Hi there.  I just joined and am very glad to be here.

I'm the Mum in an Asperger's family.  We are ... maternal unit, paternal unit, child 1 almost 18 (gender neutral by choice but she is female biologically), child 2 - a son - 16 this week and has just finished his GCSE's after not being at school for more than year - transferring to the medical needs school at the last moment and scraping through!  child 3 is very social with many asperger sensory traits and therefore CAMHS thinks there is 'something' but not AS.

My husband is step-dad to the two oldest and the real father of the youngest.

The two oldest were diagnosed in years 8 and 7 respectively, and one thing that has always been noted that because we live 'in an autistic kid paradise' nobody had noticed until they were in secondary school and the sensory issues kicked in.

Yup - everyone has their own computers and we don't interact so much, but we occasionally have a nice time sitting in the living room of an evening watching stuff or playing games while other people are on their laptops making quips from time to time ... we are weird, the kids are weird, we like science fiction and films and cosplay and stuff like that and we don't really care about our clothes and hair and nobody wears makeup (except when cosplaying!) and nobody has to socialize with anyone who doesn't want to and ... we are just us...

This doesn't mean we don't have our problems.  We do.  But this is just an intro so *hello* and that's us.
