Banana here, hello :)

Literally joined about 5 minutes ago, happy to have taken that step.

I got my diagnosis in December privately through my job's health insurance. Things have been interesting since then.

I tried to just take it in my stride and use the official diagnosis as a way of surviving in the workplace but the enormity of it has been unavoidable.

A lifetime (I'm 41) of moments have blended into simply a lifetime that I'm seeing with a new perspective. I need to do some major re-filing in my brain.

I've misunderstood myself and been so harsh on myself all my life.

I find it almost impossible to ask for help but have started to do it recently (and been EXHAUSTED afterwards every time!).

Joining this community is something I think will be helpful, I'm pleased to be here.

Chat soon Slight smile

  • Hi   Diagnosis is a *big thing* to adjust to and you are not alone here in going through that. I was diagnosed at 59 last summer.

Welcome to the autistic world, and to this space.

Many of us realise we could have been kinder to ourselves before we found out, but we were doing our best with what tools and knowledge we had then, and now we can be kinder.

Good luck with your adjustment and re-filing. I hope being among us will help. Keep asking for what you need - it is a strength and it affords others the joy of being able to help someone.
