Parenting a child with suspected Autism

I’m a mum trying to navigate what looks increasingly like autism in my 11-year-old daughter. We’re in the in-between space — not formally diagnosed, but living daily with sensory sensitivities, anxiety, emotional storms, and the quiet masking that happens outside the home. Some days are calm, some are chaos, and most are somewhere in between. I’m here to learn, share, and feel less alone in it.

  • Hi Poppy77. Yeah it can be difficult to be between, when you are figuring it out but nothing official. I have an 11 year old son just diagnosed, but it took a few years and you are right, you don't need to wait to start trying to make life easier and figuring out what works for your family. My daughter's younger and is in that in-between too, as whether or not she gets diagnosed, we can figure out what helps with the challanges anyway.

Hope you can find topics that help and feel free to ask anything. Greater understanding is good for everyone!
