Yeah I agree with you there!

I think there is something really different about the way they tell stories in the east than the west. 

My favourite is Studio Ghibli. There is something about the way Miyazaki crafts his films, he is not afraid of silence. 

Animation is not seen as a children's medium, some stories are far more mature than you'd get over here. And visuals are strong and striking.

What is that is appealing about anime? Is it the general distinctive graphical style, or the stories.

I don't quite get it, but i have noticed it has been popular for a long time.
