Hi from Gibraltar

I am a late-diagnosed autistic adult from Gibraltar, currently on a journey of better understanding myself, my needs, and how autism shapes the way I experience the world.

I am someone who thrives outdoors and in practical, real-world environments. I enjoy exploring remote areas by 4x4, overlanding, freediving, and spearfishing. Being in nature, especially in challenging or unpredictable conditions, helps me feel focused, calm, and grounded. I am also involved in responding to natural disasters and emergency situations, where structure, problem-solving, and purpose are especially important to me.

A couple of videos about me and what I do, the videos are of charity events and emergency response some viewer might find the content distressing, although its not my intention to distress someone:

Recon Raid - Morocco 2015 Charity 4x4 Offroad

Flood Response, Animal Shelter Rescues - 4x4

Spearfishing

Valencia Dana Flood Response - 4x4

I am a father to an autistic daughter, and through completing the National Autistic Society’s EarlyBirds programme, I gained valuable tools to support her. Along the way, I realised that many of those same strategies apply to me, helping me better understand my own triggers, anxiety, and emotional regulation.

Since my diagnosis, I have been working on improving my social understanding and self-regulation so that I can be the best father, colleague, and contributor I can be. With limited local support available, I am particularly interested in wellbeing-focused approaches that build on strengths, practical coping strategies, and greater self-acceptance.

I value honesty, competence, and purpose, and I am keen to connect with others and initiatives that promote understanding, resilience, and meaningful inclusion for autistic people at all stages of life
