getting the right support

Hi I was just wondering if anyone was struggling to get the right support since some days I feel as though it's brilliant and some other time I am struggling to be heard and understood and listened which makes it quite upsetting and annoying.

I would like to know if anyone feels like this or whether this is just a normal part of autism as though something is going wrong.

Please share your experiences.

It can be really hard to find support as an adult as there is little available on the NHS and what there is available often lacks understanding about autism

There is a general lack of knowledge and understanding about autism in the world in general so expecting anyone to help is a real lottery. There remains a lot of prejudice around anything relating to mental health so I would advice to think carefully before disclosing it.

If you need help then a private psychotherapist is your best option in my opinion - at around £50/hour it isn't cheap and you probably need dozens of sessions to develop good coping skills but for me it was worth the investment.
