Hello

Hello

I'm Simon.

I'm 52. I received my ASD diagnosis in October 2025.

I suspected that I had autism for the last couple of years and my diagnosis has been bittersweet for me.

I feel I that I need to be part of some kind of autistic community to share and hear about the experience of others.

Thanks

  • Hello.

It is good to know there is a reason things have been hard, but it doesn't undo misunderstandings, missed opportunities and problems. It causes you to reframe your life, but it you have a good memory you end up reliving all the bad bits.

It takes time to come to terms with that and to realise it wasn't just an issue of trying harder.

You also have to decide what you want to do about the future too and how you change and prioritise things.

Note that your cognitive processes work at a faster speed than your emotional parts.
