hi everyone

hi

my name is Steph.

i am a mother of five. my two youngest have both been diagnosed ASD, one is 9 and the other is 5.

finally got them both into a SEN provision with EHCP.

finding it hard now to find my own identity. Before being a mum i always wanted to do acting, and if that failed be a teacher.

now i struggle with finding things to do that i would enjoy and fit around the needs of my children.

has anyone found a job that helps give them something to do. dont get me wrong love being a mum and my children but just want more for them and myself

  • Hi, I'm a mother of one, it's also tough for me. I think the advantage of having more than one child is that they play together,  so theoretically more time off, but then they also have arguments, at times constantly. I take breaks for loo and take my phone with me to read, what new a rover found on Mars, or what could be the landscape of Titan like, could we find life there etc. Till the children are little,  it's hard. Sometimes I send them both for walk - child with daddy and I take my reast to do something I love.

  • Hi Steph, welcome!
It is tough being a mum, especially if you have 5! It's a big part of your life for so long, that you can feel a bit lost when they are all in school.

Work wise I managed to just about keep in my career I had before, but know what you mean to have a little something to yourself again. I wish you the best of luck finding the right thing, as I know how tricky fitting around school hours and holidays is!
