My name is Louisa and I'm mum to 4 children (2 older boys and boy/girl twins who are 3 in October)
Quick bit of history :
Both twins don't eat properly (that all stopped at about 11 months of age). Boy twin doesn't speak (he babbled lots in his first year but that stopped). He's being looked after by a paedeatrician, speach and language therapists and a child development team.
My lg twin is more than likely going to be referred to the above experts this year as her social skills are pretty poor and her eating habits are bad (she did eat normally but that stopped again, about 11 months of age)
Does anyone else get fed up with speach and language? I'm made to go to all these classes where my lb will lie on the floor and cry for an hour. What's he getting from that? They're driving me crazy. He doesn't pay attention to strangers, won't hold their gaze if he does look at them and 9 times out of 10 gives them a slap for invading his 'space'.
I am at my wits end, I need to be able to communicate with him but no one can tell me how to do it. Not one of these 'therapists' has made progress in the last 6 months and not one has offered me any advice on what I can do to help him communicate with me. I have tried sign language/Makaton but he doesn't pay enough attention to learn that as yet.
Any tips would be appreciated. This is all very new to me and i don't know what to do, how to deal with it all etc. I'm hoping people in the same situation may be able to offer advice rather that the 'experts' trying to make him conform with what they want to do.
