Hello everyone

Hi everyone,

My name is Lauren I’m new to joining and I’m kind of nervous.

I’m 32 and I received an Autism diagnosis at the age of 30. I have never really been good at fitting in with people due to issues with understanding how Autism presents in friendships but I want to meet people who may understand that I am just myself. I have tried to fit into online communities in past but never found one where I was able to stay comfortable without judgement or bullying and I’m hoping by joining I will find a way to take off some of the loneliness.

I have interests in various things including digital art (my pfp is one I drew myself) learning languages (in particular German), video games, walking in forests and nature and watching documentaries on many different topics (animals and wildlife in particular).

I work a shop job which I really like because they have been very supportive with any difficulty I have. It’s not a lot but it’s something I enjoy to help people who come in to the store and get to talk to them. I’m hoping here I will find peace and people to connect with.

  • Hello - I’m sure you’ll find a very welcoming and supportive community here (that’s definitely been my experience). There’s loads of kindness and solidarity among the autistic people on here - I’ve found it so helpful and interesting. I’m not great with social stuff but I enjoy chatting to people in this online community - it’s super friendly.

  • Hi there and thank you for the kind welcome! I am also finding out just how supportive and lovely people are here and it has brought me a lot of joy and happiness to know this is a space I can feel myself in and be accepted and understood while also connecting with others.

i am slo not great at too much social stuff but I have to agree chatting here is fun and I’m glad you are feeling that too! I’m open to chats anytime and I hope you’ll feel free to!

  • Yes, it’s a wonderful place and I’ve always felt very accepted here. It’s pretty special :)
