Hello everyone

Hi everyone,

My name is Lauren I’m new to joining and I’m kind of nervous.

I’m 32 and I received an Autism diagnosis at the age of 30. I have never really been good at fitting in with people due to issues with understanding how Autism presents in friendships but I want to meet people who may understand that I am just myself. I have tried to fit into online communities in past but never found one where I was able to stay comfortable without judgement or bullying and I’m hoping by joining I will find a way to take off some of the loneliness.

I have interests in various things including digital art (my pfp is one I drew myself) learning languages (in particular German), video games, walking in forests and nature and watching documentaries on many different topics (animals and wildlife in particular).

I work a shop job which I really like because they have been very supportive with any difficulty I have. It’s not a lot but it’s something I enjoy to help people who come in to the store and get to talk to them. I’m hoping here I will find peace and people to connect with.

  • Herzlich willkommen! Deutsch ist nicht meine Muttersprache, aber ich wohne in Deutschland seit 6 Jahren und habe Deutsch B2 bestanden! Bist du schon mal nach Deutschland gefahren oder geflogen? Warum gefällt dir diese Sprache?

Welcome to the forum, i wish you best here!

  • Vielen Dank für das willkommen!

I am so excited to meet someone who has passed the B2 exam! And to have lived there for 6 years sounds absolutely amazing!

I have to say I’m so surprised that I can read so much and understand everything said without looking it up so that is such a happy note for me! I just need to get more confident putting my response in Deutsch I find the reading van be easier than forming a sentence if that makes sense?

I would love to travel to Deutschland one day soon to explore some of the culture and see some of the beautiful places I have  seen via photos!  And the reason I love the language is actually because I loved leading it at high school way back when and decided about 5 years back to try to keep my mind active by learning a second language. I tired multiple including Swedish, Norwegian, Icelandic, Dutch, French, Spanish, Romanian, Hungarian, Italian and I finally decided that whil I was super interested in all of the languages I tried nothing quite felt as right as German did.
