Hello!

Greetings! My name is Wally, I'm a 29 year old man just diagnosed with ASD after spending my life so far not fitting in and not knowing why. I've always been different and I always assumed it was because I was weird. I probably am still weird, but, at least now I know there's some autism in there too!

I work as a monumental mason (I make and repair gravestones), which is a family business that I can do from home, thankfully. However my special interest is everything to do with nature and wildlife. I could and have talked the hind and front legs off a donkey talking about nature and wildlife! Please excuse my quirkiness, I mean no harm. I like to keep busy with Warhammer, something I've done since my teens.

And I love to do basketball, solo, alas, but still a fun and healthy activity to do.

I really hope this can be a place where I can be myself and finally fit in.

  • Welcome  , wow that is a cool job and must demand a lot of skill!

I'm big into wildlife too, so looking forward to some more wildlife threads. I was up late last night wrapping presents and being kept company by Hamza's wild isles.

  • Welcome, Wally!

I hope you have a good time on the forum, I've only just joined recently and I'm finding it fun. Wildlife and nature are really interesting, a special interest of mine too, there's so much to do with those: go outside in nature, read encyclopedias, watch nature documentaries, drawing animals. Such a diversity of different species within wildlife as well to learn about, lots of fun categories to learn about, like breeds of dog for example, or different types of butterflies, being able to identify them out in the wild from that knowledge is amazing. I wonder if you have a favourite/multiple favourite types of wildlife, or if it's in general everything wildlife and nature!

  • Good morning from America, Wally!

That’s interesting that you only like to do basketball solo, but hey, I prefer doing most things solo as well. It makes sense. Monumental mason sounds like an interesting occupation!

I’m surprised no one has chimed in yet to discuss nature. I’m not much into nature myself, but I feel like there are several people on here that love talking about trees, birds, nature walks, and the like. Maybe you should look for a thread concerning wildlife and give it a go?

  • Hey, Wally. I'm John - Nice to chat with you and welcome. Ohhh, basketball! I played as a teen for Edinburgh kings, im now 38 ..... and now feel really sad ...

I know what you mean about fitting in, truth is, I just try and be more my real self now, and if people dont like it, then I don't care as much anymore ... ill not think about it 24/7 ... OK, maybe 23/7 ... but I dont care ... honest. Laughing
