Introduction Post

Hi all, I'm new here to this community, I'm 22 and autistic and adhd (both diagnosed this year, though knew about autism for years before due to a while's waiting to be assessed) I was recommended to try this online forum in my feedback session for the autism diagnosis and I thought I'd give it a try and see if I can get involved and find community/connection. I've listed my main interests in my bio, though my most special interest is the video game Detroit: Become Human (alluded to in my username). Looking forwards to giving this a try!

  • Good morning from America, dbhfan28!

Congrats on the diagnosis! I hope it has helped you to understand yourself a little more.

I play Fortnite Zero Build with my friends a lot, but never tried Festival. Isn’t that one that’s focused on music and emotes?

Hope to see you around here often.

  • Good morning, thank you! It's definitely been helpful getting the diagnosis, just in terms of understanding myself better.

I play some zero build too, not too often as I find it a bit difficult, though definitely better than regular battle royale with all the building structures. That's why I tend to main more of the festival mode. You're right, that's the one with music, it's a rhythm sort of game, kind of like Guitar Hero but probably a lot easier (other than songs that were brought over from guitar hero onto Fortnite festival, which are extremely hard)

  • I find that most relaxing too with video games, playing on easy mode is a lot better than trying extreme and never getting anywhere. I do the same with Skyrim when I play, they have a "survival" mode with realistic hunger and temperatures and that's just not for me, video games are just fun when they're doable. Plus in games that have a story with them it's a lot better of an experience without all the interruptions if you can't progress past hard parts.

  • Honestly? I’m a “dad” gamer so I tend to play games at the easiest difficulty when I can so it’s easier to relax. So I get why Festival would be more fun if you find Zero Build tricky. Like for example I love the Fire Emblem games, but I don’t find it any more enjoyable to suffer through the excruciatingly hard difficulty modes when I can just relax and breeze through the easiest mode.
