Seeking for help

I'm new here, I hope this platform can help so relatably. I'm seeking the truth about myself and my condition. Validation helps me heal. I love reading psychology books and psychology videos have caught my interest a lot since my diagnosis.

  • I'm seeking the truth about myself and my condition.

Truth is very subjective so it may be better to try to understand the reality of yourself as this is something more concrete - something you can work with.

    Validation helps me heal

From my experiences and what others have posted on here, validation from family, friends and the rest of the world will be vey hard to find and will often be the opposite of what you hope for (since there is a lot of stigma around mental health still) so if you need validation, get a professonal.

A psychotherapist who really understands autism will be the single best tool for this and can help in a host of other ways as well.

    I love reading psychology books

These can be vey useful to understand the subject but be a bit careful of things like confirmation bias (ie seeing what you want to see) and glossing over the stuff that is uncomfortable. This is where a good therapist can see with fresh eyes and help you work on the stuff that can be really difficult to talk about.

They can also offer stuff like role play to get you working on things like difficult interactions to help you face things that you may just shy away from but need to deal with.

What books have you read that you go a lot from?
