Hello

Hi there. I’m a 58 year old female who was diagnosed with ASD in June 2025. I self referred in an attempt to find out why I am like I am. It explains my whole life experience and still makes me well up that I’ve been diagnosed. Slowly owning this by coming out to work colleagues, following one of the most difficult weeks of my working life due to crippling anxiety.

Now that the door has been opened, I realise there is a host of support I can call on. But it’s the start of a journey and a little bit scary.

  • Thank you for sharing this. It's completely understandable that you're feeling that way. Receiving a diagnosis as an adult is a huge paradigm shift. It makes sense that you're looking back at your life through a new lens.

Acknowledging your diagnosis to your colleagues took a lot of courage, especially after such a difficult week. Be gentle with yourself as you navigate this new journey. I’m glad you're finding support out there for you. Take it one day at a time.
