Introducing Myself

Hi. I'm 28, looking for a full-time job and have Semantic Pragmatic Disorder (SPD). I prefer Animal Care-related jobs, but I am also open to other kinds of jobs as well. I need advice regarding autism-friendly job searching and job support, as well as interview techniques.

I've actually posted in another group already and it was quite a long post too, but I thought I'd actually properly introduce myself here too.

  • Hello Marii!

I need advice regarding autism-friendly job searching and job support

So one thing to keep in mind is that practically no job is going to be 100% Autism friendly. You may have to do a little bit of compromising. For example, with animal care you may have to deal with loud spaces. There are certainly jobs that are more Autism friendly than others, but I’ve yet to encounter a job that is completely Autism friendly.

As for an interview technique, always bring in questions for the interviewer. Ask as many questions as you’d like. If you can’t think of any, ask how many people are being staffed by the employer in your position. Asking questions shows that you are invested and want to know more, which looks good to the employer.

  • Good points. Once you start researching a company, there are in fact no lack of questions. If your mind snags on something that seems curious, you can create a good question. In my experience it goes down well and makes you stand out (in a good way).
