Just been diagnosed with Autism at 58

Yes it’s a good name, I am recently diagnosed at 50

I always thought there was something wrong with me  but everyone in my family growing up didn't seem to notice  or they didn't mention anything directly to me as such. I do remember my father mentioning  how would i cope in life without him or my mother when they had gone his words  seem profound as both my parents & grand mother have since passed on. I have  suffered with severe depression for the last decade which is treated with medication. I have been married for 15 years to my wife & without her support i don't think i would be still here.

Trying to be kinder to myself but very often something happens to put a spanner in the works

Hi Magpie67 I was diagnosed with autism and ADHD just two weeks ago and two months ago respectively! My diagnoses have also explained so much to me about the difficulties I’ve always experienced and as I process it all I’m hoping to become kinder towards myself, how about you?

Diagnosed at 56, 5 months ago.

It explained this strange burnout thing I had but didn't recognise, the masking I didn't really understand I was doing, and why things seemed a struggle. Yet technical work was easy.

I was in my early fifties when I was diagnosed. It was a bit of a whirlwind process from thinking I may to I am via a private diagnosis.
