Umm, so I guess I'm here...?

Yalo gang. (soz if it's too informal; my idiosyncracy.)

Call me Faye, an informed self-diagnosed autistic with an absurd dedication to the condition itself. Currently (mis)diagnosed with schizoid personality disorder.

Really into music and medicine, specifically Felix Mendelssohn, Phigros, fibromyalgia, migraines, strokes. Branches and earphones are my lifelines.

Auditory and social demands are my nemesis. Serious misunderstandings within my family are something I still struggle with, so I come here :)

Hope to see some neurodivergent fallows (with that German accent Mendelssohn used) and hear your stories (as well as sharing mine)!

Last but not least, a quote from my man that sums up my whole existence (I'm trying NOT to follow him in this aspect): "It's a virtue to fool yourself." (then died from 3 consecutive strokes)

  • Hi and welcome to the community. I'm also self diagnosed, we sometimes refer to that as self discovered here. I also had an obsessive interest in it in the early years of my discovery.

I like music and played guitar when I was young, but it's no longer a main interest of mine, although I like classical or ambient music on in the background during the day and I occasionally listen to songs from the 80s on youtube that I loved when I was in my twenties.

I'm now retired and my main interests are reading - particularly sci-fi, time travel, thrillers & dystopian novels, and playing video games.

I hope you enjoy being part of the community.

  • Thank you! It feels great, being in a community I can relate to and resonate with.

Also, thank you for sharing your special interests! I do enjoy reading but mostly biographies (you know who Eyes), although sci-fi used to be my genre, too!

Truth be told, I now know what it's like to be in autistic burnout (not fun at all Disappointed) and am only starting to climb out of the abyss. Without my special interests and my accommodations, I might not have seen the light. And now I have this community! I shall make the best use of it.
