Hello, I would like to speak with others that struggle to reach but don't even though they try hard! Or Converse with someone else who struggles to in real life :)

Hello, I'm an adult and for the longest time I've not felt like I have ever fitted in right, and I can give 500% but I can't ever reach a point others around me can, I'm dyslexic and have dyscalcia, which I've recently been told is also a form of neurodivergency, I got a link to here when I said it would be nice to talk to others who are in the same boat as me. I have Chronic illnesses and this means I'm housebound a lot of the time so getting out to talk to others is difficult without the struggle of trying to hold a conversation and social anxiety lol, so if anyone feels like this I would love to chat to you. I am figuring myself out, my true self, instead of the masked self I used to show everyone, I found that I seem to feel things in emotional ways, and describe things in metaphor type of ways, so I don't know if that helps you understand me.  I like to Crochet in my spare time, I'd love to see your crochet projects.

  • Hello and welcome here. I love to crochet too. In fact it’s one of my special interests. I could spend hours talking about it so I won’t start!!

  • Hi and welcome

I'm new here and newly diagnosed too.

I don't know how to crochet but I do have other creative interests like sketching animals.

I like what you said about figuring out your true self instead of the masked self. That's what I'm working on but I'm finding it difficult. I also prefer to be around animals, communication is clear and direct and things don't get lost in translation Slight smile

    Hope you settle in here.

  • Hello, welcome to the community forum. I'd been struggling since 2020 where UK declared the covid outbreak and I had my life all planned out. Gradually I'm trying to get my life back to normal and people are interfering.

41 years old female from southwest England. Enjoy reading, photography, jigsaw puzzles, colouring and puzzle books. Occasionally

I go to a group where we do different things like art and crafts, talks from different charities and annual barbecue/Christmas dinner. I'd been going since June 2022. I met some nice people to chat with cup of tea and a biscuit.

Sorry I don't do crocheting. Some libraries do a needle craft group and community hub does one in the café. Maybe you could reach out to them? It shouldn't cost anymore than £4.

Unfortunately the local library in my town is smaller than before and reduced hours. Pity as if it was still in the big room ground floor I would of suggested to have an adult colouring book and lego sessions.

  • Hello and welcome.

As you Crochet; I thought I would mention the Arts and Crafts Online Branch:

    https://www.autism.org.uk/what-we-do/branches/nas-arts-and-crafts

I do not know how to Crochet, however, I do think it is amazing how creative people can be with their Crochet projects.

  • Hi and welcome to the community. I'm self discovered autistic, not formally diagnosed. Have you taken the AQ50 autism assessment test? It's available online and gives a good indication whether you are autistic, if you're curious.I  read your profile and see that you like video games - I do too, and I also read a lot. I hope you find this forum useful.

  • Hi and welcome to the community! Wave

I don't crochet myself, but I know that quite a few members here have mentioned that they enjoy crocheting.

I won't tag them (only because I wouldn't want anyone to feel that they were under pressure to reply), but hopefully one or more will notice your thread and perhaps share some of their projects with you Slight smile
