introduction, help and support

Hi everyone,

My name is Diane, I am a mother of two sons aged 9 and 12 and am married and work full time at a childrens hospice. My 12yr old joshua was diagnosed with Aspergers in Jan 2013. Me and my family moved from London to Kent in Aug 2013, joshua is also incontinent day and night, is dyslexic, suffers from CVS (cyclical vomitting syndrome) and also has huge anxiety issues. Since moving I am struggling to get the help and support my family needs to cope with day to day life with joshua, especially school! Joshua is not statemented and attends a mainstream school which he is struggling with as there is no support in place to help him cope, I have contacted various people and he is under CAMHS but due to long waiting lists no support is in place for us as a family. I would appreciate if anyone has any advice for me.

Thanks in advance

Diane Smile

  • Hi,

It is all very frustrating, the teachers at his dont realise how important it is for him to remain calm and relaxed or else this could bring on a c.v attack because they dont see the sufferring they think it doesnt happen. I have a TAC meeting tomorrow where i will be asking the school to start the ball rolling with getting him statemented, failing this i will be going to my local authorty, i will also be asking them to get various assesments done ed pschye, SALT and OT. Failing this i will be looking at taking him out of school and looking elsewhere. Like your son my other son is also suffering as he does not know how to handle his brother one min then the next he is being his carer and reminding him to drink not get too stressed etc its so sad.

I too am part of CVSA UK and have found their website hugely helpful.

Everything is such a battle and it need not be.

Hope your daughter is better soon
