Hello from running lover!!

Hi everyone,

I’m new here and wanted to introduce myself. I’m 55, recently diagnosed with autism and ADHD, and I’m still learning what that means for me.

Life has been a bit complicated — I grew up in a religious background (Jehovah’s Witness) and leaving that was a big change. I’ve also had times of feeling quite isolated, so I’m hoping to connect with people who understand some of the challenges of being autistic, especially later in life.

I really enjoy music, running, spending time in nature, and being around animals. I also love good TV dramas (I really enjoyed The Bridge). It feels a bit daunting writing this, but I’m glad to have found this space.

  • I wish I loved running. I've been trying to get into it because I want to get fitter and it's a cheap way to do so. But I find it boring and don't have very good will power so I give up easily.

I do love animals and TV dramas though. I'm not sure I've watched the Bridge though.

  • Hi

I get that, willpower can be tricky. I struggle with that too, but my love of nature gets me out of the door and into a place where I feel comfortable.

You could always try walking/running. I get it's tough but the dopamine afterwards feels good!!

    The Bridge is really good

It's a scandi crime drama with subtitles

You can watch it on viaplay on Amazon prime.

Nice to meet you and thank you for the warm welcome.

  • Ye I've done it with walking and running but trying to build now to the point where I can just run. But I'm just finding it tough to see through.

Ah I dont do well with series with subtitles. I either watch the people and forget to read the subtitles and that I can't actually understand what they're saying and then realise I have no idea what's going on. Or I read the subtitles and forget to watch the people and still have no idea what's going on.

  • I hear you!!

But it does get easier, you are going through the toughest part, think of how far you've come. Believe me it's worth all the sweat. Each time you go out either to walk or run you are improving.

Yeah The Bridge. I had a very similar experience, which is probably why I've watched it twice. :-)
