Learning to live with autism and regression!

Hi everyone,

I'm a 50 year old man with the heart and brain of a child. I was diagnosed with autism in my late 40's, and although it makes things in life understandable I'm still learning to cope with things, and hopefully the community can help me.

I do involuntary regress and live life like a 6 - 8 year old, and occasionally I regress as young as 2 or 3 years of age. I no longer try and hide my regression or autism any more, and although I have challenges i'm happy.

I believe we should simply embrace who we are, and show society we exist.

I don't make friends easily but I'm happy to chat with anyone via messages.

  • Welcome to the community Robbie!

If regression works for you, it is not harming anyone and you are happy, I believe that you have the right to enjoy autonomy.

I am in my 60s, and I would describe myself as a slow developer as I came late to things like education and other stages that are considered milestones by some.

Hopefully you will find people who are happy to message you, but it is more likely to happen once people get to know you a bit better on this forum.

  • Thanks  ,

Yea I was/am a late developer myself. Spent a lot ot my childhood away at a special need residential school. But of course autisum wasn't reconised as much those days, so the help and diagonse arrived late too.
