Thanks to everyone who contributes to these forums. The advise, guidance and support is so valuable. 

I'm awaiting a diagnosis via the Right to Choose route. In the meantime, I have been reading and researching to find out more about autism. In some ways I feel relieved that things finally make sense. On the other hand, I'm astounded that I have not realised this before (I'm 58 years old)!

    I am a woman who was diagnosed only last year when I was 63. After a long history of depression and anxiety, I was delighted that diagnosis made sense of things for the first time in my life. 

    I think because we are on a spectrum, it is possible to miss some of the signs that indicate the possibility of ASD. Also, being female, we tend to mask. Add in some of the ‘stereotypical’ autistic behaviours that the media tends to perpetuate, it isn’t surprising we don’t realise.
