Another Newbie Stuck in a Rabbit Hole. Advocate?

Hi Im Ales. I was diagnosed in Feb & thought things might get easier. They've got HARDER TBH. In my diagnosis report, it says i should reach out for an Advocate & I've tried looking but there is literallhy NOTHING in my area - it seems. I'm in southend in Essex. Am i just a div? Im super isolated & clueless online. If i didnt talk to my dog, i wouldnt talk to anyone & I'd love to break out of it, Where would i look for an Advocate? Thanks Alex (& Sammy the laziest jack russell in the world!)

  • Hi Alex and Sammy!!

    You are not a div!!

I must admit I've called myself by that name many times, but I'm learning to be kinder to my autistic brain.

I'm newly diagnosed too with ADHD and autism. I agree it does get harder. It seems like you get diagnosed and then you are left to navigate the world with this new information.

I didn't have a clue I had this issue, having lead a somewhat sheltered life, it was my therapist who pointed me in the right direction.

Please continue to chat on here. Before this I only had one hour a week with my therapist where I could be myself (not sure how much longer I can afford this luxury) but now I think I might have found some common ground.

    Hope to chat soon.

  • I was just left to get on with it too and I useless with computers as many here will tell you, I don't do photo's, I'm a bit phobic of them and don't have a camera, if I did I'd still have no idea how to put one up on here
