New here

Hello,

im currently awaiting a diagnosis, im struggling daily and had an ambulance to me yesterday as I was feeling suicidal.

it was triggered by a confrontation in work and feeling attacked for who I am and the way I speak etc… I feel lost and lonely.
I can’t go back but I also can’t afford to leave. Does anyone else ever get treated like an outcast?

  • Dear Amyjordanx,

Thank you for posting and telling the community what you are going through. We are sorry to hear that you are feeling lost and lonely.

If you are unable to cope with the distress or despair, it’s very important to tell someone about your feelings or thoughts. Call your GP and make an urgent appointment. Your GP can make sure you get appropriate help and support.

The National Autistic Society does not currently operate a crisis or emergency service. We advise you to contact 999 or any of the crisis lines listed on our Urgent Help Page if you or anyone else is at risk of immediate harm: https://www.autism.org.uk/what-we-do/help-and-support/urgent-help

If you are not at immediate risk of harm, we would encourage you to speak to your GP or another health professional about this if you haven’t done so already. If it’s outside your GP hours call 111 to reach the NHS 111 service. In England, Wales and Scotland there is now an option to speak with mental health professionals by selecting ‘option 2’ when calling NHS 111: https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-services/urgent-and-emergency-care-services/when-to-use-111/

  • Hello there Amyjordanx.

I’ve struggled with suicide, too. I’m glad you or a loved one reached out to crisis services and got an ambulance. You’re very strong for accepting help.

My hope is that in looking for new jobs, that process will make going to work at your current job a little more bearable. I say that because knowing that there will eventually be a change for the better on the horizon can help in dealing with what you are going through now. That’s a big hope, but I know it’s helped me in the past with getting out of horrible job situations.

    Stay strong.

  • Aww I’m so sorry, at least you can have sick leave for the time being. I understand about the income, it’s such a difficult situation Sob I hope the crisis team were supportive with you. The crisis team and A&E are useless where I am. I tend to text with shout but my phone been playing up for texts. Do you know how long the wait is for your assessment?

Must admit I’m not really getting any support at the moment, everyone I have seen has ended up saying they can’t help me and just drop me. I am looking into having a general assessment as we are suspecting complex ptsd and personality disorder.

For the time being do something that you enjoy and makes you feel happy and relaxed. You deserve to look after yourself x

  • Hello, thank you for your reply. I’m sorry you’re in the same situation too..

I hope you’re getting some support.
unfortunately leaving until I find something new isn’t an option I bring in the income into the house. Crisis team have told me to go off sick for awhile rest recover and find something new, but I don’t know how to manage myself because I don’t really know what I’m dealing with until I’m diagnosis. I’m desperate right now x

  • Hello and welcome to the community, I hope you enjoy it here. I’m so sorry you have been feeling suicidal lately, are you feeling any better today? I’ve been feeling the same lately if I’m honest Sob I also feel your pain of feeling like an outcast too, I’ve always struggled to settle in wherever I go and always had some form of bullying but lately had something more serious. I’m currently not working at the moment due to poor mental health, would you be able to leave your current job and go to your local job centre for some sort of benefits whilst you recover? Do you have anyone who you can turn to at all? Take it easy ok x
