Newbie here

Hi, after a very long battle, my son has finally been diagnosed at the age of 12 with atypical autism. its been a heart wrenching experience when all you want is to be listened to and the best for your child.

Upon dianosis I still haven't explained it to my son aa I don't feel confident in telling him when I feel I don't know to much either.... Any advice on how to over come this would be great.

I've no idea how to go about telling him.  My own daughter was diagnosed this year at 13 but she knew I was going to the meeting so asked as soon as I was home.

How is your son coping with school? Does he have much idea about his difficulties?  My daughter seemed to be at a primary school with some of the brightest kids they'd ever had and really struggled because she knew for a long time that she was different.
