Hi I'm newly diagnosed with autism.

Hi I'm PassionateAsSin. I’ve always been different and struggled so much with making friends which I found depressing so I spent so much time isolating myself because I thought I was just weird. But now I’ve been diagnosed with autism and suddenly everything has fit together and all my difference makes total sense. The diagnosis has given me a lot of validation and for the first time ever I feel as if I truly belong and can really see myself, like the real me and not some mask I’m hiding behind to fit in.

There’s still a lot I don’t understand and struggle with but at least now I have my diagnosis I can hopefully begin to enjoy life a little more and unwind as I continue to discover myself.

  • Hi and welcome to the community. I'm a woman in my sixties and retired, and I enjoy reading and playing video games. I see from your profile you like assassins creed games - I love Odyssey, Valhalla and Origins.

  • Hi and thanks for the welcome.

That's cool you enjoy Assassin's Creed games. Which one is your fave to play?

What books do you like to read? I've always loved reading. I like escaping in to a good book.

I just started reading a Stephen Fry's Odyssey book. It's a really fun read actually, way better than I thought it would be.

  • My favourite Assassin's creed game is Odyssey. I like to play as Alexios, but my husband plays as Kassandra - which sibling do you play?

I've also always loved to read, and I mainly like science fiction, fantasy, time travel and dystopian future novels, but I also sometimes read romantic comedy, humour or historical novels. I've read some novels by Stephen Fry that I thought were good.
