Hi! I'm 41, living in Nottingham, and I'm agender, (undiagnosed) autistic and a polymath. My pronouns are she/any. I work part-time in administration. I have too many hobbies for the amount of time I have available but many have fallen by the wayside since my anxiety got bad enough to be diagnosed as anxiety. I really enjoy playing Dungeons & Dragons on Monday evenings with my partner and friends.

I've come here for some help on my anxiety, which is not caused by my autism as such but 'treating' it is harder because of it!

  • I think that autism and anxiety are often closely linked - in many ways it’s hard to separate them. Most autistic people will struggle with anxiety at some point I think.  You’re also probably right that being autistic can complicate  efforts to manage/treat anxiety - but the approach is often the same in terms of trying various approaches to see what most helps. Our autistic traits often make us more prone to feeling anxious - so a developing a good understanding of what most triggers your anxiety is a good place to start.
