I'm new

Hello I'm looking for some friends to talk to and get to know more about people like me I'm very friendly and I look forward to hearing from you send me a message anytime

  • Hi, I'm new to this too. I was recently diagnosed at 65, I take anti anxiety and anti depression meds and am broadly ok just trying to reframe my life to work out at what points my autism determined the directions I took. The negatives and the positives.

  • Hi there!

    Welcome to the community forum.

I'm a 41 year old female from the UK, .

In my free time, I love reading books, doing crafts, taking photos, gardening, and writing to my friends. I'm also part of the Women's Institute*.

*What do Women's Institute members do? WI Members are encouraged to be active in their communities – taking part in activities from regular craft workshops to creating projects that teach members new skills.

  • Hi and welcome to the community

  • Hello Bella and welcome.

I am glad that you have found us here.

I hope you will make some new friends within our community.

    I recommend two things:

    1) please keep yourself more safe (see Online Community Rule 2) - by please changing your profile photo to an image which is less likely to personally identify yourself.  That way, you can say your opinions and ask your questions here in the online world - without it potentially causing a problem for you in the real world.  That is important when each of us is getting to know new people.

    2) maybe, to help everyone's conversations get started, you could share with us a couple of examples of things which interest you or things you enjoy doing?

    For me, I would say:

    - I like reading books.

    - I prefer non-fiction books rather than novels.

    - I am interested in international topics and learning about the experiences of people from cultures around the world.

    - Although I have always enjoyed using a computer / laptop / tablet / smartphone for researching things of my interest, I have never become interested in computer games (which I realise are very popular with lots of other people).

    - Here, sometimes people may use the term "lateling".  This means someone who has either received a formal Autism diagnosis, or self-realised / identified they are Autistic - at the stage of being an older adult.  I am one of those lateling people - as my Schools did not realise I am Autistic (something which can happen when some girls and some other people are masking).

    - I choose: not to use the messages and friends requests features on this website.

    - I prefer to make a few original posts and sometimes reply to posts of other people - if I think I have something to share on their topics.

I hope you enjoy getting to know our community.
