Hi New Here

Hi,

I am a SAHM to a 9 & half year old with Aspergers. This last Academic year has been Extremely difficult for both him & us (Husband & I) as the Teacher (Now sacked) caused lots of Problems & removed ALL his coping mechanisms & we are Now trying to pick ourselves back up from it. BUT it is taking a Very long time. The upset has been very clear for myself, Husband & son, as Adults we don't understand truly why this occured & the Teacher caused these problems for our son, but she did & it has had Long term effects on us all. For our son though it has totally knocked his Self esteem, confidence & trust with others & its a fighting battle every day. I have looked for support groups around us, but the ones I have been told about aren't the best environment for our son as to Noisy & crowded & just NOT his thing. The closest Carer Support for me is an hour away in the car & as I don't drive this isn't possible. So I have been feeling Very isolated & alone.

Am hoping that joining somewhere like this I will be able to receive some help & advice.

Thanks for reading this

  • Hi - it's so sad when everyone suffers because of someone's ignorance.  It's quite disturbing just how many people there are who are ignorant about autism.  Unfortunately some of them are in positions of power + can do enormous damage.  Has your son got a statement of educational needs so he has support at school from someone who understands autism + how it affects him personally?
