Hi Everyone

Hi peeps,

I have only just had my screening and I have to say it is such a relief to finally find out something about myself that makes sense. I am 27 years old and have had a strong feeling that I was autistic for years but I never sought to getting it diagnosed.

Anyway, I just wondered if there was anyone here who finds they calm down when they listen to music? or sing? Or play an instrument? Does anyone else randomly burst into song or at least have a song that goes round and round in their head all day?

Does anyone work in a school and have to mask in order to fit in with others? How do you do it? Have you ever had burnout in the middle of the school day?

Sorry so many questions, I just really want to talk to people who are just like me.

Thank-you everyone

  • Thank god me too! Always helps me feel better.

Yesss! I've been doing this since I was a child!

  • Hi Nikki98, welcome to the community. I often have background music going on in my head, almost like a soundtrack. I do like a bit of a sing song and quite like to sing a show tune when I’m in the mood Dragon

  • Hiya, oh I worked as an SEN TA too! It was interesting.

  • Hi and welcome to the community. I'm a woman in my sixties and retired, but when I was in my early 30s I worked in a school as a special needs teaching assistant. I had no idea I was on the spectrum then, but after I finished work in the afternoon I would often go home and fall asleep on the sofa for a while.

I do have songs going round in my head a lot too.
