Hey all! Newly diagnosed

Hey everyone Wave

I'm new to these forums and wanted to introduce myself.

I was diagnosed as autistic a few weeks ago, after a long time of researching and trying to decide. Plus a few years on the waiting list...

I also have ADHD. With both, it has been an interesting experience being diagnosed as an adult, to say the least.

I guess I'm figuring myself out now, and so thought these forums would be a good place to connect with others.

How are you? For those of you diagnosed as adults, did you find these forums useful post-diagnosis?

  • Hey O&U!

That's very true, everyone is their own person and has unique experiences. My initial response to the diagnosis was pretty neutral to be fair. Like yep, no surprises. I thought I'd have been more emotional about it, as I know others have shared that being their experience.

Thank you for the link- I'll check it out!

  • Hey Lotus! I totally understand that. Everyone who's now diagnosed wasn't professionally diagnosed at some point, anyway:)

  • Hey ArchaeC!

Oh good, yes I've already seen some great discussions. I'm glad a space like this exists.

  • Hi Ornithaur. Welcome to the community.

I’m in my 60s and I was diagnosed last December. I enjoy engaging with others here. The conversation can be stimulating, and at times challenging.

  • Hi and welcome to the community. I don't have a full professional diagnosis, but I have found this forum very useful.

  • Welcome to the forum !

You'll find plenty of information & anecdotal evidence here from others about their experiences post-diagnosis - but everyone is different, so while it is interesting to read about the stories of other people, it doesn't necessarily mean you'll end up feeling quite the same.
