Hi everyone,

I'm new.

I got a late diagnosis last year.

I'm hoping to meet some people who are kind and passionate about their favorite things. It's great to see lots of people's dogs on here!

    Hi, thank you! That's the most incredible story. It's just like The Velveteen Rabbit, you brought them to life.

    I don't have my own dog either. My brother has a dog and other family members.

    Thank you! I can be patient here. Waiting for a phone call, or appointment - not so much! Lol. It seems nice and quiet and not pressured in here.

    It's brilliant about building a community. "Safety in numbers."

    I think you need to be patient with this place.   This place does take time to figure out, but it is about building a community that helps one another - not just for now, but for the longer term too.  

  • Hello Echo, I am glad that you joined our Community.

    Unfortunately, I don't have a dog of my own to show you these days (although I used to enjoy our family's loyal mongrel (not a pure breed) dog when I was a teenager).

    Many years ago, I used to have a couple of chickens in my garden (to enjoy the fresh eggs).

    When I was a little child I used to have a large brown wild rabbit. 

    He had got petrified, for some reason, near a city allotments (my Father said if the rabbit was still frightened and sat stil on exactly the same place 24 hours later - he would die there - so instead; we would take him to our garden to care for him). 

    The next day the rabbit was still frightened in the same place (he was still exactly at the same spot and he did not look well). 

    We took him home, built him a large hutch and a really large run in the garden - which you could move around to the next area of fresh grass, and we looked after him. 

    Our family had a full-sized allotment too - so our rabbit had a plentiful supply of fresh vegetables in addition to pet rabbit dried food. 

    In cold Winter weather we used to make him a type of warm vegetables and bran mash. 

    If it was snowy, or a storm was forecast, or it was Fireworks Night - we used to put an old wool carpet over his hutch for better protection. 

    Our rabbit lived for 12 years (which is a long time for a rabbit).
