I'm new to the site and wanted to introduce myself. I'm NixxyNoo, 30, with 2 children. A nearly 4yo son and a 16mo daughter.
After a long journey and long wait to see a Paediatrician, my son was finally diagnosed with ASD yesterday afternoon. Although it was the outcome I expected and wanted, it was still somehow a shock and I felt a little bit numb, despite feeling positive that we can apply for a statement to get him some help for starting school in September.
He has no other learning difficulties but does also show a lot of ADHD features, though we didn't get a diagnosis for this yesterday as well as the Autism, it has been noted.
So next steps are reading up and applying for a Statement.
I find the hardest bit not knowing how this will affect him as he gets older and to what extent he will be affected.
