What would your dream life be?

What would everyone's dream life be?

Mine would be a farmhouse in the middle of nowhere, away from everyone (apart from family), plenty of space, fields, stables etc

and to spend the rest of my days rescuing neglected animals of all types and showing them what love/care actually is...

A little safe haven for all the abused and neglected animals where they can run and play, be with their families without being separated or hurt everyday.

I've dreamed of this my entire life and I like to think some day I will achieve that goal. Animals have been kinder and more understanding than most people have been toward me.

I feel like I can read animals better than most humans and cannot stand to see ANY of them mistreated.

Since I was a child I've wanted to save every single animal in horrid situations and bring them home with me. As I've gotten older, I have wanted it more and more, my Mum said it was a phase but 25 years later, I'm still heart set on achieving it... some day! Slight smile

  • Thank you for your kind words! Same to you too, and I'm so happy that your Mum has moved into her dream home!!

I feel like I could happily live in a caravan at the bottom of her field

It's funny you should say that! A few years back we were actually discussing this, my parents were going to buy a massive field and have one of those log cabin type things on it, and me and my brother were going to have our own separate cabins on the same land and all our dogs can play together Relaxed

  • I was thinking the other day when the weather was warming up that I would love to lay on a sunny beach with some of the girls I knew in my younger years in their bikinis. Eating an icecream with a hand held console. I guess that's more the relaxed low key life you might enjoy.

  • Another dream of mine has been to have a massive kitchen furnished with the contents of the Lakeland catalogue and a small herd of grandchildren to bake with and for.

I'd love a Hauf Hus too, or that sort of thing. As I get older the idea of not having to deal with maintaining an older property gets more appealling and being able to design my own house, unlike many people I wouldn't have massive windows in the bedrooms, I like to sleep in the dark and would hate being kept awake by the light or having the sun balzing in my eyes at the crack of sparrow fart. Lots of people seem to like open plan and double height spaces, when I see those high ceilings I wonder how you get rid of spiders? I'd like flow, but I like rooms too, being abl eto shut the door on things.

  • I have part of my dream life - not having to work any more now I'm retired, and having a great partner.

I would like to live in a nice modern detached bungalow with big windows giving lots of light (sort of a German Hauf Hus) - not too big, just a one bed with a utility room as well as a kitchen would be great. I'd like it to be in a quiet road with quiet neighbours, within 15 mins walking distance of the sea and close to a town that has M&S, Primark and Iceland stores, with a nearby bus route into it.

  • Thanks wasn’t sure whether my answer was a bit over the top as it is not possible except in my imagination. A study of some sort would be nice though….i can surround myself with all my favourite nonsense Wink

  • Absolutely love this answer!! I got lost in to be honest, it sounds like a completely different moment in time!

I love the idea of a warded study so as family could not enter and very much the idea of the library with the ladders!!

I can see it so vividly from your description! On the coast would be amazing!! Slight smile

  • My dream is to live on a houseboat in the countryside, surrounded by nature and wildlife. I’ve always ahd this dream of living on a houseboat, it sounds such a peaceful existence. I grew up in the city and that wasn’t good for my ASD or anxiety.

If I lived on a houseboat I would buy an easel and stand at the bow and paint on sunny days. It would be such a great life I imagine. I’m nearing 30 now and hope to the heavens I can make this happen someday somehow.

Best of luck with your own dream I wish you every success in this!

  • Each to their own!! Slight smile

I can appreciate that my idea of a dream isn't going to be the same as someone else's Slight smile

Yours sounds cool but the idea of partying hard would be my idea of hell so we're like opposites lol!! I still appreciate you leaving your idea of a dream life, we're all different, I like that Slight smile

  • Perfect!! I absolutely love this!!!

I can relate to both, your description of the cottage is absolutely perfect, I lost myself imagining it all!!

On the other hand, I know exactly what you mean about living on a cul-de-sac close to all your family!!! so cute, I love it!

My family is quite small and my Mum finally moved into her dream home at 54 years old, she has her chickens and the dogs and they are working to get the house sitting how they want it. I feel like I could happily live in a caravan at the bottom of her field and we would all be together but have our own space if that makes sense?

I wish nothing but happiness, joy and comfort to you and your family!! Heart

  • Kate this sounds like heaven!! Heart eyes

I'd happily be your neighbour, I promise I'm quiet and not intrusive at all! Laughing

I love your dream, it sounds absolutely wonderful! So peaceful, cosy and just perfect!! Heart

  • Wishing you all the joy and success for you and your wife!!

  • This absolutely fantastic!! It made me so happy to read this answer!

Even if the opportunity does not arise for you to buy it outright, I am so glad you have this beautiful space and you never know what could come of the future!! Make the most of this part of your dream as long as you can and I really hope it all comes together how you envision!!

wishing you so much joy and happiness! Slight smile

  • Roy this is absolutely amazing!! I'm so pleased for you and your wife and wish you both so much joy in this dream you have brought into reality!!! It sounds utterly beautiful Slight smile

  • That’s fantastic Roy - I’m so happy for you! It’s sounds so wonderful!

  • I’ve actually started implementing my dream life, sold the family home and have bought a remote property in Cornwall. It’s got another cottage with it and a derelict stone barn. The idea is to have two holiday lets and a workshop for me to work on my classic minis. We have no neighbours and water comes from a pumped bore hole. My wife is going to leave the NHS after 18 years of service to keep chickens and a couple of donkeys. She likes sea swimming and gig rowing, I’m looking forward to renovating the cottages.

  • Sorry I was being a bit flippant, our previous MP did a lot of work to get us decent mobile and broadband coverage, having lived in a place with no mobile signal and dial up speed broadband it is isolating. I depends on where you live and what material your house is built from, my step son in law lives in the middle of Manchester and has terrible problems getting mobile signal in his house.

I live in a village and whilst it has it's convieniences I'm not sure they out weigh the inconvieniences, the village has got a lot busier since covid, more second home owners and tourists who treat the place like it dosen't matter and the people who really live here as inconvienient servants. But for someone such as yourself it might be fine, the train to Chester is every 30 mins and theres a through train to London every day.

  • I feel so fortunate. I really hope I can buy the house one day, if not I'm just happy being able to live here for as long as possible Slight smile

  • You are very fortunate to be living a life that is at least close to your dream life Blush

  • I love this thread!!!

I'm partly in my dream, and a little of yours too. I live in the countryside, I have the farmhouse (needs a lot of work), and my only neighbours.....are sheep and cows.

So to a degree my own dream is like almost there, nearly 100%, the only thing is......we rent the farmhouse whereas I want to buy it which with me not working and my dad having DIabetes and being the only worker, buying this lovely place is extremely unlikely, sadly.

My dream would be to buy it.......refurbish the house and grounds (I'm already working on the grounds...)....and buy a horse and stick it in the field next to the house, as that's part of our land too apparently.

That's my dream...then I could just chill and grow old peacefully with the security of knowing I have a beautiful house in a beautiful area.
