Introduction

Hello I recently got diagnosed with ASD. It took a bit but I finally got it now I'm just looking for community that I can relate to and get along with. I find it very hard to talk to people especially new people but I'm hoping to possibly make some friends too as that is a struggle for me as well. Anyways I'm glad to be on here and I hope I make many good memories while I'm on it.

  • When you consider less than 5% of the population are ASD diagnosed/undiagnosed, it is perhaps easy to see why those that are sometimes find it hard to establish connections with others who think as they do.

Hopefully the design of a forum - and the fact you can drop in or out of a conversation as you please (or start one)  with no pressure will be much easier than the expectations that real life encounters sometimes put upon us.

You really can't predict some of the things that come up for debate & discussion here - it certainly is an eclectic mix.

Welcome & looking forward to hearing from you

  • Hi! Good to have you here!

  • Welcome flame_tiger to the forums!

  • Hi and welcome to the community! Slight smile

Besides chatting and connecting with people here, you might also find these resources helpful:

    NAS - After diagnosis

    NAS - Relationships and socialising

Depending on whether you have one nearby, your local NAS branch might also offer some opportunities to meet up with other autistic people, or be able to offer some suggestions for other local groups:

    NAS - Branches

You could also ask your GP to refer you to a social prescriber, who might be able to help you find some local opportunities for socialising (eg with groups and/or activities).

  • Hi and welcome to the community
