Hello everyone,
By way of introduction:
UK Lateling learning how to better navigate my way as a Neurodivergent Person.
Night Owl (I read recently that is sometimes also referred to as a Wolf).
I am known in my household / Family etc. as a Winter hibernation person, which means I am looking forward to March (when I tend to change-up at least a gear or two!).
Love learning about new things and sharing that knowledge with interested people.
Acknowledge that I am not on the "best form" currently (stress / anxiety / low mood / burnout / juggling both mental health recovery and multiple recent physcial health challenges).
Something of a re-identification / re-discovery and re-launch of personality / priorites is a process onoing (as an early days work in progress). Also known as learning how to un-mask safely.
Used to place my career in high priority place order of things important to me. Currently not working. Looking to return to a workplace (once a better suited role and environment may be profiled).
Although I have have been a Patient of the same GP Practice for several decades, I am finding their general pressures experienced as a Practice mean they are unable to support me (just exactly as I actually need them the most ever). Having come to understand this, I have been trying to establish contact with other local area NHS services and those offered by local / regional / national charities as applicable too. In common, I suspect, with many other latelings, I do not seem to fall within any service's niche or pathway.
My GP very recently suggested speaking to the Social Prescribing Worker from a charity associated with our GP Practice. I was a bit concerned about this service, as it would appear to be neither counselling nor healthcare. It sounds more about connecting you with community services / resources / activities. Well, the Neurodivergent / Autism social anxiety circuit rather cut-in on hearing that description! I guess time will tell how engagement with this service will be experienced. (I would be interested to hear if anyone has experienced this service in their area).
As I have been trying to learn more about what it means / could mean to be lateling-me, I have found those materials / content produced by other Neurodivergent / Autistic people are by far the most comfortable to digest (even when they are challenging me to work hard at a topic).
I tend to make use of learning materials from the UK, Canada and Australia. For example, I like viewing the weekly YouTube videos "Austism From The Inside".
Traditionally, I used to really enjoy following World News coverage via all media. Least said, soonest mended on that front these days! Accordingly, I have gone back to borrowing books from the Library instead (as adopting a sort of positive reliance strategy).
I have found that Social Media platforms are really not for me. This Community looked like a preferable virtual forum. I am looking forward to getting to know people here.
Thank you.
