I've just joined this forum today. My seven year old boy has just been diagnosed with autism. I'm just trying to learn about it myself.
He's physically stimming all the time, does very little school work and doesn’t socialise with peers. He's in mainstream school and is very intelligent but finds school overwhelming and difficult. He is upset every day going in, but I have to leave him and quickly rush off to work, leaving him in tears. It's awful.
I am trying to figure out how to help him. I'm not sure if there's any way to help his social skills and keep him calm. I've tried to get help from the GP but to no avail.
