Hello, folks! I'm Aya, I was just officially diagnosed autistic on the 6th November at 35yo. Long time coming, I've known for a while but as you all know it's difficult getting it looked into, especially as there are no autism pathways at all in my county. It was a huge relief for me to get the diagnosis, like I finally had permission to be myself. I'm not broken, I'm just me. I'm now planning on getting an ADHD assessment as that's most likely another thing that's going on. I have fibromyalgia, too, so that's fun
A little about me, I'm an archaeologist (just graduated my master's degree and applied for my first job!), crafter, musician, gamer, outdoorsy person. I'm also a part of the queer community and a pagan. I've really been getting back into my music recently, writing more music about pagan celebrations and my life journey. One of my latest songs is about me finding myself after discovering I'm neurodivergent and dropping the masks and outside expectations to work out who I actually am. I hope to get it properly recorded some day and I'm also arranging it for the mental health choir I joined recently. Music is my life, it's a great comfort to me and gets me through a lot of my dark times. I also game a lot! Mostly PC gaming, massively into Elder Scrolls Online, Zelda, Myst, all sorts!
Looking forward to chatting with folks and learning more. I hope to get into advocacy work, especially for late diagnosed folk who present differently (e.g. AFAB). Hope you all had a lovely festive period and that the New Year is a good one!
