Hey all.

Hey guys and girls. I hope it’s okay to post here - I only had the ADOS assessment today so I’ve not been diagnosed and I’m not sure yet obviously how the scoring will go. Apologies if it’s only for people who have officially been diagnosed. I have suspected I am autistic for several years but I’m only just going down the path now.

i work full time and am married. It’s taken me a long time to find a place I can cope, funnily enough which is in the care industry. My wife is very supportive and helpful, she has helped me progress very much in the past several years and my life is much more fulfilled because of her. I don’t have any outlets apart from her so I’m hoping I can spend time here without the diagnosis (but if not, please say and I’ll remove myself) and have other people to talk to and get advice from.

It’s nice to meet you guys and hopefully get to know some of you well to build some good relationships. Thanks all.

  • Yes, although the doctor I was seeing at the time of my self discovery agreed with my own assessment, he advised that a formal diagnosis wouldn't change anything and I wouldn't get any help because I was able to work.

I decided not to pursue a formal diagnosis because there wouldn't be much point in just having a label, and I felt that the money it would cost could be better used helping someone who does need support.
