Hello!

Hey, I'm just here to introduce myself.

My names Nikki, and I'm a single parent of two, and my daughter has Aspergers.

It was a huge relief when she was diagnosed, as it answered a lot of her own questions, as well as mine. Since this she has over come those difficult stages, and seems to understand herself much better. I won't say everydays a 'bed of roses', but we seem to be getting there!

I'm just grateful to be blessed with such amazing children, my son is so caring and understanding of his sister, and supports her in everything she does.

  • He has been brilliant with her this time round.  I'm not sure whether its because she now has a diagnosis, he is older and wiser or that he has spent some time working in the Learning Support department of a secondary school as part of his degree.  Also, he said his personal tutor at Uni has 3 children on the spectrum so maybe her words have sunk in more than mine ever could?

They always had a brilliant relationship up until my daughter was about 7, which was probably when her differences became really noticable and her behaviour took a turn for the worse.  She's much calmer now and has enjoyed his gentle teasing better than she did a few years ago Tongue Out
