Hello and a happy day

Hello everyone. I am an academic, publish, speak, travel the world but at the same time I struggle with the basics. I live on my own now for the first time and find it challenging even to remember to buy food but I am also grateful to have a quiet place and be able to do as I like. I like looking at beautiful things, especially water and old things made by people. I have only told a few people about my autism diagnosis because some reactions were very bad. I hope to find a kind and friendly community here. Wishing all of you a happy day.

  • Fellow academic here. I haven't had bad reactions, maily indifference. I've been struggling to 'be an academic' for the past few years, I still love teaching (although I find it exhausting), but I hate going to conferences/networking (which I'm rubbish at) etc. I feel very guilty as I'm no longer interested in 'overarchieving'.
