.....I have a beautiful 5 year old son that is undergoing evaluation of Autism.
For a while we thought he would grow out some of his issues and never expect he would be Autistic.
Something struck me it could be but my wifes nephew has aspergers and he doesnt act the same, that blinded us to certain facts i think.
Anyway it came to a point that a KNEW that there was more than just late development. The holding his ears when a certain noise he didn't like, or the way he said get away get away when a child approached him or the uncontrollable mood swings or even doing things over and over again, they became more than 'just a phase' and we took him to our GP.
He has had his first referal and has been referred to speech therapy and physio for his constant tip toeing.
Now we just wait...
He started school in september and has settled really really well. To my delight. And he has improved with a lot of his issues, still has trouble with sensory issues but that is understandable.
just wanted to let you know a little more about me and would love it for any advice on how to keep patient on diagnoses or just to let me know we are not alone.
Thanks
Nick
. My son's an adult now so I don't think I'm that up-to-date about the assessment processes. Lots of other posters are + will be along to comment. If you haven't, have a look at some of the posts which talk about diagnosis, education etc, please do so. Also, loads of info via the home pg. Come back whenever - there's nearly always someone here. Good news that your son is settling well into school - that's always a milestone + can be so difficult. bw
