Hello

Hi

I'm Ryan, I'm 19 years old, and I have Aspergers Syndrome, as well as ADHD.

I'm currently at university, I'm in my second year of studying Law at Queen's University Belfast. I live at home, with my mum and dad, and my sister, who is 17.

I write a blog about what its like living with Autism/Aspergers Syndrome from an everyday perspective.  It's called www.whatsitliketolivewithautism.com

I also started a group, called Holding Out a Hand, which is to help raise awareness of Autism and Aspergers Syndrome among teenagers and young adults, and to provide advice and support for those diagnosed with the condition.

Not really sure what else to say!

  • I'm not sure why they told you that, about the uni not providing additional help, if anything, my university has provided me with more support than was provided at school, they have been amazing with support.

As for the selection process, I think there should be a bit more information given about the actual support provided, in our case it was left to us to have to go to the university directly in order to find out what type of support is available. http://www.qub.ac.uk/directorates/sgc/disability/

Here's the link to the Queen's University Disability services, I would imagine most universities will have similar structures in place!
