GOING through a diagnosis of Aspergers.

I have believed for a few years now that I'm fairly certain I have High functioning autism, I,'ve recently filled in an assessment form at my doctors  to have it confirmed one way or the other. There is a lot of autism on my father's side of the family from low functioning to High functioning. I'm a woman of 58 so I'm fairly old to be getting diagnosed but personally it would be very beneficial for  me to know as it would make things much clearer to me how my life has turned out the way it has.

  • I was diagnosed at 59, and it helped me a lot, internally. Asperger's is not usually diagnosed these days, not since the diagnostic manuals were changed, around 2013. Mostly, the diagnosis is of Autism Spectrum Disorder/Condition, with 'Level 1' (out of three levels of increasing support needs) being the closest to the former Asperger's diagnosis..
